GroupHug

Here's a little screen saver that grabs random lines from http://grouphug.us/ and displays them. It's built using the jdic and the SaverBeans SDK. I'm not sure whether this will actually work without these libraries???

If you're using windows download and unzip grouphug-win32.zip into your windows directory, probably C:/WINDOWS/system32, or whereever the rest of your screen savers live. Then select grouphug as your screen saver. If you're using Unix or Linux try it yourself, I'm running windows right now, so I can't test it.

Files:

Source:   grouphug-src.zip
Windows binaries:   grouphug-win32.zip
Unix binaries:   grouphug-unix.zip
Stand-alone app:   grouphug.jar

Last build: 02/26/2005 06:49 PM.

I've added a standalone version of the screen saver for people that can't use it -- e.g. Mac people. You can run it by downloading grouphug.jar and doing the following:

java -jar grouphug.jar

Note this jar is different from the one below.

A simple app that does basically the same is here. To use

java -jar grouphug.jar

There is a dashboard widget for Macs here.
